Campaigning for commissioner: Cook makes tour stop in Burnet

Texans have been “Bush-whacked” twice and are smart enough not to let it happen again, the Democratic Party’s nominee for Texas Land Commissioner said last week during a campaign swing through Burnet County. John Cook, a former mayor of El Paso, and his wife have put 20,000 miles on their pickup visiting 127 of the state’s 243 counties in the past four months in an attempt convince voters to consider an alternative to more red state conservatism.
