Final ballot winner named

Burnet resident Cheryl Davis is receiving $50 for filling out her 2012 Reader’s Choice ballot and turning it in the last week before voting ended in the Burnet Bulletin’s Reader’s Choice Awards.

"I never won anything before. This is exciting,” Davis said when asked what she thought when she was told she won.

When asked what she planned on doing with her winnings she simply stated: "I am going to use it on me.”

This was Davis’s first year to vote. "I think I will go drop him off (her husband) and go shopping right now.” Davis said as she walked out of our Burnet office on the Square laughing.

Davis grew up in Port Aransas but has lived in the Burnet area for more than 30 years.

Ellen Bode, associate publisher of The Highlander, Burnet Bulletin and The Llano County Journal, said, "the response from our readers this year to our annual Reader’s Choice Awards has been tremendous. Votes are now being tabulated and the winners will be announced in a special magazine next month that will be distributed with our newspapers.”
