Viola Rogers Nov. 6, 1921 ~ July 22, 2012
My loving mother and best friend, Viola Pearl Ritter Rogers, went into the arms of Jesus on July 22. She was born to Melvin A. and Lilly Pearl Watts Ritter on Nov. 6, 1921 in Alan, Okla. She was married to the late Woodrow W. Rogers for 47 years and as a stay-at-home mom raised their children Beverly Sue Grantham, Gary Rogers, and Rowena Rogers Brooks while living in Big Spring.
She was a devoted and godly wife and mother leaving the legacy as a Proverbs 31 woman. She
taught Sunday School at Phillips Memorial Baptist Church and was a volunteer at the VA hospital.
After Woody’s retirement they moved to Granite Shoals, where they made their home for 30 years. She spent the past six years in Houston living independently near her daughter, Rowena. Bodie, as she was known, was the epitome of a genuine lady; she had a distinct style and grace about her that was radiant.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law Rowena and Mark Brooks of Houston with their children Mark, Julie, and Kaitlyn. Also included is Claudetta Rogers, the daughter-in-law to her son Gary who passed away three years ago and their children Carlotta, Cathy, Jacquie and Tammy as well as her late daughter Sue’s children David and the late Carl Grantham. She had
nine grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 28 at Edgar Funeral Home in Marble Falls. Please sign the Online Guest Book at www.edgarfh.com
